BLACK RHINO (critically endangered)
The population has decreased 97% in the past 50 years and today there are less than 5,000 left in the wild.
Source of inspiration:
-Bag: The rhino horn. The main reason why they are killed. The horn is mainly used in traditional Asian medicine even though there is no evidence that is has any benefit on health. The horn is made of keratin, the main compound in human nails and hair.
-Print: Habitat/favorite food of the Black rhino (oxpecker, ferula communis, acacia tortillis).
Major threats: Poaching and habitat loss.
How can we help: Never buy anything made from rhino horn, don’t support cruel practices involving rhinos, volunteer/donate to the different conservation projects that support them.
